Have you seen creative ways to address the cost of living crisis in your area? If so, we would love to hear from you
So much for the ‘roaring 20s’ – as the pandemic recedes, a cost of living crisis has emerged. The predictions that this decade would be defined as hedonistic indulgences after two years’ worth of restrictions are not realistic now. For the foreseeable future, rising inflation looks like it’s here to stay.
For some, this means cutting down on non-essentials. Others have to choose between heating or eating.
Positive News wants to hear your creative responses in these difficult times. Is it up and running? a community fridgeAs in London, Bristol, and other areas, it could. Is it experimenting with a community garden, a dinner club, or a cooperative of food?
Maybe it has created a community car-sharing scheme, like Share Our CarsOxford? It was created during the pandemic and allows people to pool their vehicles with trusted neighbors through Hiyacar (the ‘Airbnb for cars’), which takes care of booking, insurance and driver vetting.
Some people have been able to sell their cars which can be a drain on their household finances while still having access to a vehicle when they are really in need.
