March 06, 2019Mar 06, 2019

Music legend Dolly Parton has had a long and successful career. In recent months, Parton has still been making headlines. She was recently honored with an award at the Grammys and also was the star figure in a Netflix original movie.

Sadly, some terrible news has just come her way. Her own sister has decided to speak out against her and condemn her in the #MeToo movement.

"I’m ashamed of my sister for keeping her mouth shut,” Stella Parton, 69, said on the CountryLine "Our Stories" podcast last week. “She can run it when it is about something else, but speak up about injustice, Dolly Parton. Speak up. And speak out. Defend women, and don’t just do it in a little song. Speak up.”

Many fans were really shocked at the news. Some were very surprised to hear Dolly's own sister say such things about her.

“This is the first time I’ve really publicly called my sister out. But it’s high time that some of these older women speak up and speak out," she added. "They’ve all gone through all kinds of abuse in this industry so: speak up!”

This isn't the first time that Stella Parton has spoken out concerning issues she's passionate about. She has previously called out Jane Fonda and Meryl Streep for allegedly ignoring sexual misconduct in Hollywood. She even spoke out about current political leaders and revealed what she thinks of the Obama family.

Stella also went on to say, “That’s why I was so happy to have people in our government like Michelle Obama, who has always been such an inspiration to the younger generation of women. I believe we finally have a chance here. We have an open window. Don’t let it be closed by keeping your mouth shut.”

What do you think about Dolly's sister speaking out against her? We would love to hear your thoughts on this! In other recent news, another Hollywood couple is calling it quits, and he's asking for custody and to enforce the prenup.
