Portwood was given a sentence in 2012 for a December 2011 drug arrest that led to her losing custody of her daughter. She and Shirley reached an agreement to split custody in 2015 after her November 2013 release. Shirley will retain primary physical custody.
Portwood met her next boyfriend, Matt Baier, via Twitter in 2014 — though it was soon revealed that she wasn’t the only Teen MomThe star he had been messaging. The TV star was engaged to the controversial DJ, but the couple had their share of drama. In 2015, it was discovered that the Massachusetts native had been father to at least five children.

The MTV personality was soon pregnant with James, her second child, shortly after they began dating. James arrived in May 2018. Portwood was arrested in Indiana on the weekend of the 4th July 2019. She was accused of being violent towards Glennon while Glennon was holding their son. According to the report, she pleaded guilty two felony charges of domestic violence and intimidation. Indy Star.
Portwood eventually accepted a plea agreement in the case. Glennon was then granted primary physical custody in July 2022 after a bitter custody battle. He was also allowed to move James from Indiana into California.
“We endured the nightmare,” Glennon told E! News in July 2022 following the official court decision. “Now we get to live the dream.”
For her part, So You’re Crazy, Too?The author said Us Weekly that she will “never stop fighting” for her kids whom she “loves more than anything.”
“While I’ve always been candid about my past substance abuse and struggles with mental illness, a person should have the chance to redeem themselves and not be tethered to their problems from the past,” Portwood argued, noting she had submitted “21 negative drug tests and under[went] multiple psychological evaluations” for the custody case.
