Suspect Officially Charged for Kidnapping 13-Yr-Old Jayme Closs, Murdering Her Parents

The amazing news was reported on Thursday that the missing 13-year-old girl from Wisconsin, Jayme Closs, has been found alive! Her story merited national attention when she was discovered missing after her parents were murdered in her home.

The young teenager had been missing from her Wisconsin home since October 15. Now, months later, she has thankfully been found alive! Police confirmed that a suspect was being held in custody for kidnapping.

Now, police have identified 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson as the suspect in the case. On Friday afternoon, the young man was officially charged with the murders and the kidnapping.

When the news was first reported in October of Jayme’s disappearance, the storyline didn’t seem to add up. Both of her parents were found dead in the house, and Jayme was missing. The world watched as developments were slow and seemingly irrelevant.

Now, more of the sad story has been revealed. According to CBS, it appears that Patterson went to the Closs home specifically with the plan to abduct Jayme. However, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said that he was unsure how Patterson knew the young girl.

FBI Special Agent Justin Tolomeo said, “In cases like this, we often need a big break, and it was Jayme herself who gave us that break.”

The 13-year-old had reportedly escaped on foot and then gave police a detailed description of her kidnapper. Because of that, police were able to locate Patterson.

Thankfully, the young girl is now safe. Sadly, however, she still has to deal with the emotional trauma from the suffering that she endured and has to deal with the grief from losing her parents. Please be praying for her during this difficult transition period.
