Sad news was just reported out of Los Angeles. Longtime editor of The Associated Press, Sue Manning, has passed away. The 71-year-old died on Sunday at her home in Glendale, California.

According to her brother, Manning was found dead at her home. Family members became concerned when she was not answering any calls. At this point, the cause of death has not been officially confirmed, though an autopsy is being conducted.

Throughout the last several decades, Manning was a part of several influential news coverages. According to reports, millions of people around the world read news that she played a part in either through editing, coordinating, writing, or assigning.

AP's former executive editor, Sally Buzbee, said, "So much of the crazy, tragic, extraordinary news the world devoured about Los Angeles for so many years was written- fast and with style- by Sue behind the scenes. She was the rock- and the kind warm soul- of the place."

Manning covered some of the most famous incidences in modern history. She reported on the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens on scene. She served as the supervising editor for the 1984 Olympics. She covered Michael Jackson's death and was a core reporter throughout the O.J. Simpson ordeal.

AP Television Writer Lynn Elber said, "She was part of a growing group of women in critical roles at The Associated Press, and her influence was felt in how she helped drive coverage. Sue approached that position as someone who was consistently calm and steady and decisive in a way that made everyone who worked under her feel fortunate."

Not only was Manning celebrated for her work ethic and for breaking barriers, she was also loved for her character.

Andy Lippman said, "If she missed your birthday, she was genuinely sad. The AP was her family and she relished not only working, but sharing happy and sad moments with everyone she worked with."

In 2016, Manning retired from AP. Her impact continued to be felt, however.

Please be praying for Manning's family during this sad time. Did you read any of her stories? Let us know! In other recent news, people have been obsessing over Melania's recent unique outfit. Let us know what you think!
