Still need to find Special Solar Eclipse Glasses? Here's Where to get them

August 18, 2017Aug 18, 2017

The highly anticipated total solar eclipse is coming up on Monday, August 21. While many are excited to view this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle, there are precautions that need to be made.

The government has been issuing massive warnings over the last several weeks. Among the warnings is the fact that staring at the eclipse could drastically harm one’s eyesight.

At this point, many people are aware of the special solar eclipse glasses that are available for purchase. These glasses are necessary to filter out the sunlight, making the moment more enjoyable and helping your eyesight in the long run.

Over the last week, glasses have been selling out quickly. Thankfully, the Washington Post curated a list of places that still have glasses in stock.

If you have not purchased your glasses yet, or if your glasses were part of the massive recall from Amazon, you need to get to one of these stores quickly. Of course, these stores will continue running out as well, so we recommend getting yours as soon as possible.

Here is a list of places that you can find FREE glasses:

-NASA: They are giving away free glasses at various events. Use this map to find a close event.
-Special libraries: specifically to be used at their eclipse programming events.
-Warby Parker
-Ask friends or family members who have acquired extras.

Here is a list of places that you can purchase glasses:

-Local hardware stores (Ace Hardware or others)
-Best Buy
-Pilot/Flying J
-Toys “R” Us

If you are purchasing a high quantity of glasses, look into American Paper Optics.

Please share this with family and friends so that everyone is protected at this event. To find out what camera devices are safe to use during the solar eclipse, find out more here.
