Please pray for his surviving family: One of punk rocks most endearing stars has passed away. Steve Soto, founder of the band the Adolescents, was 54.

According to Fox News, Soto died Tuesday at his home in Orange County due to natural causes. Adolescents’ singer shared the news on the band’s Twitter page.

Soto was gifted in music. He could play multiple instruments. One of his gigs was with Agent Orange, which he co-founded in 1979, in which he played bass.

His legendary status was cemented during that time, as Agent Orange was one of the first bands to combine punk rock and surf music.

The Adolescents went on to release eight albums. One of those was 2018’s “Cropduster.” The band had recently completed a U.S. tour.

The band Social Distortion tweeted that the performer will go down as “one of the pioneers not only in the Orange County music scene, but the world,” according to the Los Angeles Times
