Recently, the nation debated President Trump’s latest decision. Earlier this week, President Trump announced he would be ending DACA and it caused an uproar among DACA supporters.

Now, after comments from the Catholic Church in defense of DACA, one notable Catholic is speaking out. Steve Bannon, the former White House strategist and current chairman of Breitbart, unleashed on the Church when asked about their stance on DACA.

“The bishops have been terrible about this. By the way, you know why? You know why? Because unable to come to grips with the problems in the church, they need illegal aliens,” Bannon told CBS' “60 Minutes.”

“They need illegal aliens to fill the churches. That's — it's obvious on the face of it,” Bannon, who is Catholic, continued. “They have an economic interest. They have an economic interest in unlimited immigration, unlimited illegal immigration."

When pressed on his decision to go against the leaders in his church, Bannon sent a major message. He said that while he respects them on church doctrine, this isn’t about doctrine.

“This is about the sovereignty of a nation. And in that regard, they're just another guy with an opinion,” Bannon said.
