Stars’ best friends! Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and more celebrities have turned to their furry friends for comfort during the coronavirus outbreak — and many are providing forever homes to pups in need.
The “Slide Away” singer and ex-boyfriend Cody Simpson introduced their rescue pup Bo to their Instagram followers in March 2020, adding to Cyrus’ growing menagerie of pets. The Disney alum spoke with the owner of California’s Wagmor Luxury Spa, Hotel & Rescue, Melissa BacelarDuring a recent episode, she discussed how the COVID-19 crisis has affected animal shelters across the country in an Instagram Live video.
“[Bo] was so shy when we first got him and he’s totally out of his shell now. He’s such a mama’s boy, which I love,” Cyrus told the shelter owner earlier this month.
Gomez also used her platform for encouraging fans to think about the canine companions in need of a home during this stressful time. “I would like to introduce my new family member, Daisy,” the Spring BreakersActress said it during a livestream on Instagram later in the month. “I know a few friends who are fostering right now, just to give animals a safe place … I couldn’t help it, I had to keep her.”
Adopting or fostering a pet can be a blessing for the lucky pups, as well as the new caregivers, especially during times of stress. For actress Camila Morrone, fostering her husky was “the single best decision” she could have made for her mental health during her self-quarantine.
“For all my friends showing interest in doing this, DO IT,” the Argentina native captioned a snuggly Instagram post of herself and her new pup, noting that fostering an animal in need is a life-changing experience. “You won’t regret it ❤️❤️❤️❤️ these sweet creatures need you so badly.”
After less than one-year of marriage, Amanda Batula Kyle CookeThey decided to grow their family and adopted Reese & Ryder rescue dogs. “Amanda slept with them for a week because they would cry alone —sometimes in the pen, sometimes on the floor by their side,” Cooke gushed over his wife in a February 2022 Instagram snap. “I always knew she would be an amazing mom but I underestimated how much joy these little girls would bring her as a dog mom, and how much love she would give them in return.”
A few months later, the Summer House costars’ lives with their dogs remained blissful.
“I don’t want to say perfect, but it’s been close to perfect,” Batula exclusively told Us Weekly August 2022. “We have our two dogs right now and we are so happy with the little family that we have. It’s perfect. I would love to see more dogs. That’s in my future — more dogs!”
