Are you a good or bad witch? Both, in some actresses’ case!
In the 1930s, popular culture was dominated by onscreen witches. Snow White and Seven Dwarves And The Wizard of OzThey were first seen in 1937 and 1939, respectively. It was the inspiration for many iconic celebrity costumes (remember them?). Ellen DeGeneresAnd Drew Barrymore’s Glinda the Good Witch Halloween looks?) also sparked a craze that hasn’t slowed down yet — onscreen witches, from The Wicked Witch of the West to Wanda Maximoff.
While witch content had a big moment in the ‘90s (think Sabrina the Teenage Witch, CharmedAnd Practical MagicThe 2000s have shown that fans today are just as open to magic. Recent years have seen movies and shows include American Horror Story: Coven, WandaVisionAnd The WitchesHave placed spellbinding stars front & center.
2018 The Chilling Adventures of SabrinaIt premiered on Netflix. Starring Kiernan ShipkaThe show gave a darker view of the character Melissa Joan Hart made famous. Existing in the exact same universe as RiverdaleThe series also demonstrated that any fandom could go insane for a little sorcery.

Even if they don’t play them on screen, many celebrities are into all things witchy.
