Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson East and her football playing-husband Andrew East shared heartbreaking news over the weekend. The two have been married since last year, and recently suffered a tragic event in their marriage.

In a 20-minute video, the couple opened up about suffering a miscarriage. They wanted to share their story with fans because they felt “a lot of people go through this.”

The video begins with two pregnancy tests, showing up positive. Shawn begins crying, and says, “We’re gonna have a baby!” She reveals they weren’t planning it, but it was “really really exciting.”

“How am I gonna tell Andrew? He’s gonna be a daddy!”

Later in the video, Shawn talks about how she’s nervous to be a mother and tell her husband the news. At the time, she was out of town, but she insisted they see each other for a “surprise.” Before seeing his wife, Andrew made a short clip suspecting Shawn was pregnant and said that if she was, he already loves his child.

Once they met, she revealed the news to her husband by having him open up a package—baby shoes. Shawn immediately started crying and the two hugged and held each other tightly.

Sadly, just hours later, Shawn had terrible stomach pains and bleeding. The happy couple found out that Shawn lost the baby at about 8 weeks along.

The two drove home in tears. However, in a separate Facebook live video, the couple touched on their faith in God. Shawn stated, "We know everything happens for a reason. We believe God's got a bigger plan for us. All we can do is be positive otherwise we just sink into a hole."
