On Tuesday, Redmond O’Neal, 33, son of the late Farrah Fawcett, was arrested after allegedly robbing a Los Angeles convenience store at knifepoint.
According to local police, O’Neal walked into the store located near Santa Monica and with a knife demanded that the clerk hand over the cash in the register. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. Police later arrested him and recovered the knife that the clerk confirmed was the same one used in the robbery.
O’Neal is being held on a robbery charge. His bail was set at $50,000. On Thursday he will appear in court to determine whether he will be granted bail or be released.
According to People, O’Neal has struggled with drug addiction for most of his adult life. The incident that occurred Tuesday was not the first run-in that he’s had with police.
In July 2015, he was sentenced for three years in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. In May of the same year, his probation was revoked after a judge determined that he had used drugs during it.
O’Neal, son of Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal, has a half-sister, Tatum O’Neal, who spoke out about his drug addictions. In an interview in May 2015, she described how pernicious his drug addiction is.
“I love him, but I have never seen a more scary side of addiction,” she said. “He’s got addiction problems so bad that it breaks my heart. Nobody knows what to do with Redmond.”
“From what I’ve seen, there is no way he’s going to survive,” she added.
Fawcett passed away in 2009. Ryan O’Neal said that his son has “never recovered from the loss of his mother.”
Please pray for Redmond O’Neal during this difficult time, that he can break his addiction. Be sure to read about President Trump meeting three U.S. citizens recently freed from North Korea.
