Singer Defends President Trump’s Decision on Transgenders in the Military

President Donald Trump made a major announcement on July 26th of 2017 via Twitter, informing the nation that transgender individuals will no longer be allowed to serve in the military. His statement acknowledged that certain risks and medical costs accompanying gender transitions are too much of a burden for our country.

His sudden announcement has of course become very controversial. Well-known names from both sides of the political spectrum have publicly voiced their opinion on this major change.

Unlike most names in Hollywood, Trump-supporting singer Joy Villa came to Trump’s defense. The star is best known for rocking a “Make America Great Again” dress at the 2017 Grammy Awards earlier this year and releasing a “Make America Great Again” song a few months later.

Throughout her music career, she has been fearless about expressing her support for President Trump. She consistently praises Trump for his faith, leadership, and love for America on social media and during interviews. In the past, she also spoke at a "March 4 Trump" rally.

In relation to the transgender military ban, Villa said she was “proud” of our president. She appreciates the fact that he made national security a priority instead of being worried about “socially correct politics.”

Most well-known names attacked Trump for his decision including singer Aaron Carter, conservative transgender Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner), and transgender actress Laverne Cox. It was expected that President Trump would be under fire after such a bold decision, remaining faithful to his conservative Christian values. However, First Daughter Ivanka Trump also faced outrage following this major change.
