The sad news was just confirmed that legendary singer Pat Boone is in deep mourning after suffering an extreme loss. Sadly, his wife, Shirley, has passed away.
According to reports, Shirley Boone has passed away at the age of 84. She died from congestive heart failure after being in hospice care.
Shirley, Pat’s wife of 65 years, died on January 11. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death, with her four daughters singing to her.
Pat wrote, “My sweet wife of 65 years is in the arms of the Lord now.”
A source told Radar Online, “Shirley had been ill for some time now. She was suffering from congestive heart failure and was in hospice care.”
The source said that two of Shirley’s daughters were in the area near the time of their mother’s passing. Her two other daughters flew in to say goodbye as well.
The source continued, “The girls were naturally worried about Pat, as they’ve been married for 65 years and together for 68. This is just so very sad to say the least.”
Several weeks before Shirley’s death, Pat took to the Christian Broadcast Network to ask for prayers for his beloved wife. Many people around the nation were praying for the Boone family. Sadly, Shirley has now passed on and the lovebirds will now be separated "for a little while," according to Pat.
In 2017, Pat opened up about his sweet love story with his high school sweetheart.
He said, “Shirley and I were the proverbial high school sweethearts. We met when we were 13, we got serious when we were 16 and started going steady. We both went to a Christian high school in Nashville. She was homecoming queen. I was president of the student body and captain of the baseball team. We married at 19.”
He continued, “And, of course, she’s my sweetheart. We’ve had four daughters, 16 grandkids and, now, 9 great-grandkids!
Now, Pat has confirmed that his beloved is “in the arms of the Lord.”
