The West Side StoryActor, 28 and the Big Little LiesOn Tuesday, September 6, the alum and 30-year-old Woodley shared photos and videos of the dance session via Instagram. In a series of Stories posted by Woodley, the duo attempted to recreate the famous “lift” scene from the 1987 classic starring Jennifer GreyPatrick Swayze, who died in 2006.
“Took a few tries,” the Spectacular NowStar made a joke in one caption. “But we finally got there.”
Elgort, for his part, shared a still photo of the duo’s big lift, writing: “Clean dancing w Shai.” The Baby DriverActor added two heart-emojis and an Italian Flag.
Two photos were posted by Woodley and Woodley in Italy one day later. “It’s the time of the season for loooovvingg 💕,” the GoldfinchThe snaps were captioned with star. Elgort served his friend a glass of wine while they sat down to eat on a quiet Italian street.

After appearing together in two 2014 movies, the pair became close friends. DivergentThey played siblings in the sandbox. The Fault in Our StarsThey were a part of a group that played teenage cancer patients who fell in love.
“She’s honest with people, there’s no BS and she’s not fake,” Elgort told ParadeIn 2014, he explained why he and Woodley get along well. “She’s a real friend because of that to me. I learned a lot about her because she’s so open. She’s a totally open soul to me and I’m a totally open soul to her.”
One year later, Tokyo ViceThe alum said that it was difficult for them to be siblings and then become lovers so close together. “It was definitely really weird,” he joked to ColliderMarch 2015. “I don’t know how we did it, but we pulled it off somehow. We’re very happy that it somehow worked.”
Though the duo’s last film together was 2016’s AllegiantThe third film in this trilogy is “The Third Film”. Divergent franchise, they’ve since remained close. The pair reunited at 2018’s Golden Globes, Woodley stopping mid-interview to say hello to her friend.
“Hi, Ansel!” the California native said on the red carpet, pausing her chat with reporters to give Elgort a wave. They later met in the theater and shared a hug for cameras.
