At the end of April, Prince William and Duchess Kate welcomed the newest royal baby into the family. His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge made his entrance into the world on April 23 at 11:01 a.m.
It took several days for the royal family to announce the name of the new little prince, and the name they chose came as a surprise. Many people had suspected that the sibling of Prince George and Princess Charlotte would have a name like Arthur, Albert, or Alexander.
The name Louis came as a shock to many because of one main fact- it is a French name. However, when looked at with a closer lens, the name makes sense. It is one of the middle names of both Prince William and Prince Harry and gives honor to his great-great-great uncle Lord Mountbatten, who was killed in 1979. The name also was the middle name of Queen Elizabeth’s father King George VI.
