On Saturday, May 19, thousands of people will gather around St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle as Prince Harry and American Meghan Markle get married. The highly anticipated royal wedding has been the focus of fans all over the world for the last several months as details about it have been revealed.
Now, with only a few days before the big day, the baker that is making Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake has revealed a few pictures of what fans are suspecting to be the royal cake. The baker of the cake is Claire Ptak, the owner of Violet Bakery in London.
In March, the Kensington Palace released a statement regarding the royal cake. They announced that the cake will be lemon elderflower flavor and that it will be “covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.”
Now, 5 days before the big day, the bakery released a photo of dozens of lemons on social media. They used the caption, “And so it begins.”
Later, the bakery posted a photo that many people believe to be the top of the royal wedding cake. It includes buttercream frosting and fresh flowers, just as the Kensington Palace announced that it would.
They captioned it, “Petal perfect.”
In March, Ptak talked about the responsibility of the cake. She said, “I can’t tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality, and most importantly flavor, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of.”
What do you think about the beginning stages of the cake? Will you be watching the festivities recorded on May 19? Let us know! Yesterday, the Kensington Palace made a shocking announcement that Meghan’s dad would not be attending the big day.
