On Saturday Track Palin, the oldest son of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, was arrested on charges of domestic violence. A day later, at his arraignment, he was charged with a Class B Felony first-degree burglary, one charge of fourth-degree assault and one charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief.
According to news station KTUU, Palin is in custody at the Mat-Su-Pre-Trial Facility in Palmer, about 20 miles northeast of Wasilla.
In 2016, Palin faced domestic violence charges after allegedly slugging his girlfriend in the face, kicking her in the knee, and threatening suicide with an AR-15 assault rifle. At the time, he was charged with interfering with the report of domestic violence, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and assault.
Sarah Palin attributed her son’s problems to post-traumatic stress disorder. He had served in the United States Army and spent 2008 in Iraq with the Alaska-Based 25th Infantry Division 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
According to Fox News, in the 2016 incident, Palin’s girlfriend reportedly had bruising and swelling around her left eye. She also said her right knee hurt after Palin had kicked her there.
Sarah Palin, who served briefly as John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election, faced criticism for faulting Barack Obama for not doing enough to help her son and other war veterans.
“My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different. They come back hardened,” said Palin. “They come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military have sacrificially given to this country and that starts at the top.”
Palin also made headlines in 2014 when, reportedly, the family got into a brawl at a house party in Anchorage where Track, who had blood around his face and mouth, became belligerent while speaking to a police officer.
