Over the weekend, rumors circulated about “The View” co-host Sara Haines leaving the show. Reports stated that Haines would be joining ABC’s Michael Strahan to kick off a new hour on “Good Morning America.”
On Monday morning, July 23rd, Haines and Strahan finally confirmed the news themselves in a video shared by “Good Morning America.” The two will host the new third hour called “GMA Day” starting Monday, September 10th. Watch the video announcement below:
Later in the morning, Haines addressed her departure on “The View” in an emotional announcement.
“I will be leaving the show for the best reason, but I have to start with this: I’ve watched ‘The View’ since it began...This has been a dream I’ve always had — to be on this show,” Haines stated as she began to tear up.
“Everyday I walk out here, I’ve never taken it for granted...I’ve been crying. People keep telling me — Joy Behar — she keeps telling me not to cry, so I won’t cry,” she said with a chuckle. “But I never thought in a million years I would be leaving one dream job for another dream job.

Fans were shocked by the sudden announcement, especially since the news comes shortly after Paula Faris announced her departure from the show, as well.
As of late Monday morning, there has been no word on Haines’ replacement.
