Reality television star Ryan Edwards, who first rose to fame on the original series of “Teen Mom,” was recently arrested on drug-related charges in Hamilton County, Tennessee. This is the 30-year-old’s second drug arrest this year.
The “Teen Mom: OG” star was also arrested back in March of 2018 for violating probation. Edwards was initially on probation from a heroin case last year.
According to TMZ, his most recent arrest was in relation to the previous drug possession charge. In 2017, Edwards checked into a rehab facility and has reportedly dedicated himself to recovery ever since.
This news comes shortly after Edwards announced that he and his wife, 21-year-old Mackenzie Standifer, are expecting their first child together. Edwards already has one son, Bentley, with ex Maci Bookout.
Amidst their pregnancy news, Edwards and Standifer also revealed that they are leaving the show. MTV allegedly refused to portray Edwards as a recovering addict and instead, wanted to showcase him as “angry, passive aggressive and uncaring,” he revealed in a social media post.
“Don’t take everything you see on MTV as factual truth,” Edwards stated. “They don’t want to show me or Mack in a happy light or that I am active in my recovery. I AM.”
In addition, the couple said MTV no longer agreed to cover their health care costs in exchange for filming the doctor visits, reported E! News.
Edwards or Standifer have not yet responded to the arrest report as of Tuesday morning. If additional updates are released to the public, this article will be updated accordingly.
