In the beginning of March, a tragedy took place in New York. Tony Award-winning actress Ruthie Ann Miles was with her 4-year-old daughter, her friend, and her friend's young son when the group was struck in a crosswalk by a car.
Sadly, Miles' daughter, Abigail, was killed upon impact. Ruthie's friend, Lauren Lew, lost her 1-year-old son as well. His stroller was drug by the car over 100 feet. The accident was absolutely horrible and witnesses recalled the sheer terror on everyone's faces.
At the time, Ruthie Ann Miles, star of Broadway's "The King and I," was pregnant. During her recovery, it appeared that her baby would survive. Sadly, in the middle of May, the actress and her husband revealed that they had lost their unborn baby at 39 weeks.
In the months following both tragedies, Ruthie Ann Miles made a positive recovery and seemed to remain strong. According to statements by her spokesperson, Ruthie and her husband, Jonathan Blumenstein, clung to their faith.
Now, several months after losing her four-year-old daughter and two months after losing her unborn baby, the actress has made a remarkable triumph. Ruthie Ann Miles returned to the stage over the weekend!
The 35-year-old returned as Lady Thiang in "The King and I," the role that earned her a Tony Award. Several of her costars spoke out on social media about her inspiring bravery.
According to reports, Miles had to use her cane throughout part of her performance and would sit occasionally on stage to rest. Her spokesperson said that she is just trying to take the healing process "day by day" but that both Ruthie and Jonathan have shown "courage, strength, and bravery."
Please continue praying for this family as they walk through this difficult tragedy. Even though she made this triumph, that doesn't mean the grief has ended. Pray for comfort and strength! In other recent news, 2 are dead and 70 injured after a bridge collapse. Please be praying for that situation as well!
