Rumors Run Amok Over WH Tensions and 29-Yr-Old Chief of Staff Candidate, But Here's What Pres. Trump Says

Over the last week, rumors have been flying high over tensions in the White House. According to several mainstream media outlets, President Trump and Chief of Staff John Kelly have been at odds and President Trump has begun thinking about his replacement.

There has been one main person that has been talked about extensively as being Kelly’s alleged replacement, and that is a 29-year-old who left her prominent position in the White House in February. Several media outlets are reporting that Hope Hicks, the former Communications Director, will be President Trump’s new Chief of Staff.

The outlets were reporting this because of a comment that President Trump made recently. When asked if Hope would ever return to the White House, he said that he would love that.

President Trump said,  “I love Hope. She’s great. I hope that- I’ve been hearing little things like that…I think everybody misses it. You people exhaust a lot of people. They come in full of life and vim and vigor and then they’re exhausted. Many people would like to come back. Look, there is nothing more exciting than what we’re doing.”

Vanity Fair was the first big outlet to report that Hicks would be the replacement, and another outlet noted that Hope Hicks said that she would be open to the idea. However, the Wall Street Journal was the first to report that Chief of Staff John Kelly would most likely be leaving his role by the end of July due to escalating tensions between him and President Trump. However, that rumor was put to rest by White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters.

She said, “I spoke to the president who refuted the article. He said it is absolutely not true and that it is fake news.”

When asked about Trump’s and Kelly’s relationship, the president said, “We have a very good relationship. He’s a wonderful man. John Kelly, four-star, wonderful man. Don’t forget, this is a big change for him. This has not been an easy change for him. We have a very, very good relationship.”

When asked how long Kelly would be staying with the administration, President Trump said that he could not give out that information, but that he will continue to respect John Kelly.

At this point, it is still unclear how long Chief of Staff Kelly will remain with this administration. Additionally, it is unclear whether or not Hope Hicks would even be considered or want to come back for this role.
