Saturday, April 21 marks a very special day for the royal family. Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 92nd birthday!
Not only are birthdays special in and of themselves, this one is particularly monumental. Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch of all time, and she is now celebrating another year of life as the queen.
For her 92nd birthday, the Royal Family social media account made a tribute to her. They posted photos of Queen Elizabeth throughout the years and talked about her lifetime of public service.
They said, "On her 21st birthday, The Queen made a speech dedicating her life to service and to this day continues to carry out Royal Duties, from visits to charities & schools, to hosting Heads of State & leading the nation’s celebratory events."
According to CNN, the Queen and several other royal family members will attend a concert on Saturday night at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The event will be featuring several stars, including Sting, Shaggy, and Kylie Minogue and it will be broadcasted live on BBC TV.
The special celebration comes shortly after the Queen made an official announcement to the Commonwealth leaders that her son, Prince Charles, would be the next leader.
CNN noted that the Queen also celebrates her birthday in June every year. Traditional festivities for that celebration include a military parade, Trooping the Colour.
This is an exciting time for the royal family, with Queen Elizabeth II celebrating her 92nd birthday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting married on May 19, and the anticipation of baby number three for Prince William and Kate Middleton!
Congratulations to the royals on this busy and exciting spring season, and happy birthday to the Queen! In other recent news, celebrities just gave tear-jerking reactions to the news of the death of a 28-year-old world-famous musician.
