Robin Williams' son Zak Williams is a father. Zak and his fiancée just welcomed their first child.
They announced the news on social media with photos taken by Zak's sister, Zelda. They also released how the baby's name is a touching tribute Williams, who tragically died in 2014.
Along with his fiancée, Olivia June, Williams' revealed that they name the baby boy McLaurin Clement Williams. He was born on May 22.
"Introducing you to my little family!" June captioned the series of photos. "We are beyond thrilled he chose us to be his parents, and obviously think he’s the best, smartest, and cutest baby ever!!"
The couple also revealed why they waited almost a month to announce their happy news. Olivia June wrote about the expectation to share news on social media immediately.
"We’ve kept this news private for a number of reasons, one of which is my increasing emphasis and appreciation for living life away from social media and focusing on my offline relationships," she wrote in the caption.
McLaurin was the middle name of Robin Williams. Olivia June hinted that they will be using the nickname "Mickey" for their little boy.
In 2015, a year after his father died, Zak, now 36, opened up to People about how he and his siblings (Zelda, now 29, and Cody, 27) hope to celebrate and honor their father, who committed suicide.
"We're still grieving," he said, adding that they "try to focus on the joyful moments and memories."
He also opened up about the grieving process to TK, a Seattle-based photographer who shares portraits of people who have been impacted by attempted or successful suicide.
He told the photographer, Mariangela Abeo, "There’s no education in place to tell you how to deal with this. To balance how to grieve privately with your family and then also to have to grieve publicly. While it was nice to be heard, I was spending time on the outer layer instead of on the inside. It wasn't just the survivor network for me, it was the whole world.”
Olivia June completed her post with a sweet comment for the new father in her life. She wrote, "You’re already and will always be, 'World’s Greatest Dad!' Mickey and I are the luckiest."
Congratulations to the couple! May God bless their family.
