On Sunday night, actor Robert De Niro had harsh words for the President of the United States. While presenting an award at the 72nd Tony Awards, the award-winning actor cursed out the president.

The well-known Trump critic declared, “I'm gonna say one thing: F--- Trump!" De Niro stated. "It's no longer down with Trump, it's f--- Trump!"

Liberals at the awards received the comments with roars of approval. He even received a standing ovation for his comments.

A day later, De Niro issued an apology—but it wasn't to President Trump. No, instead, he apologized to the Canadian people for President Trump.

According to CNN, "The Godfather" actor was in Toronto Monday for the groundbreaking of the Canadian Nobu restaurant, which he was launching alongside celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa.

During the opening, he made the topic political once again.

"I just want to make a note of apology for the idiotic behavior of my president. It's a disgrace. And I apologize to [Canadian Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau and the other people at the G7. It's disgusting."

Last week, President Trump was criticized by some for a perceived attack on Canada. He addressed the situation on Twitter.

"PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, 'US Tariffs were kind of insulting' and he 'will not be pushed around," Trump tweeted after the summit. "Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!"

As Franklin Graham pointed out, De Niro's comments are completely inappropriate. That's no way to treat anyone—no matter if you agree with their politics—let alone the POTUS on a public stage.
