Last month, Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination was put into question after harmful allegations against him were made public. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford said that Judge Kavanaugh had assaulted her when the two of them were in high school.
After a media circus, the Senate Judiciary Committee decided to have Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford each testify before them. After hearing each of their testimonies, the committee decided to move Kavanaugh forward to the next phase of his nomination.
Before the Senate voted on Kavanaugh, President Trump asked that another FBI investigation take place. No new evidence was discovered in this investigation. The Senate ultimately decided to vote in Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court Justice.
Now, the Senate Judiciary Committee has released the full findings of the FBI investigation- 414 pages long. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley revealed that they would be releasing the report on the majority’s investigation of the allegations and that absolutely no new evidence was discovered.
Grassley said, “The revelation of last minute allegations tested the committee in many ways. But these investigative efforts rose to the occasion and were critical to helping us obtain the truth. This was a serious and thorough investigation that left no stone unturned in our pursuit of the facts. In the end, there was no credible evidence to support the allegations against the nominee.”
According to reports, the summary of the investigation was around 414 pages long. It included notes from the FBI’s interviews with 45 individuals. Additionally, there are 25 written statements included.
