Late Sunday night on October 1st, a great tragedy occurred on the Las Vegas strip in Nevada. A 64-year-old gunman, who is now believed to have been associated with ISIS, opened fire from the balcony of his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. After firing several shots below, he reportedly killed himself.

The attack was aimed at attendees of a country music festival. According to the Associated Press, the death and injury toll continues to rise with at least 58 people now pronounced dead and over 500 others injured as a result of the attack.

This has been declared as the deadliest mass shooting in history, which ISIS claimed responsibility for on Monday. Although, this has not been confirmed by U.S. authorities.

Several political names and celebrities have offered their condolences to the families affected including President Donald Trump and performers from the country music festival. Trump expressed his gratitude to the local police department and publicly declared God’s help in being with the victims during this “very dark period,” quoting the bible that the “Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Rep. Steve Scalise, who was shot and injured in an act of terrorism earlier this year, also responded to the tragic incident in agreement with President Trump. In his statement, he offered prayers to all those affected by this horrible tragedy and thanked the first responders on sight for their efforts.

Scalise stated, “I pray for the victims of this attack, and our whole nation grieves with their loved ones...In this tragic moment, I encourage people across America to stand together in solidarity, and to support the Las Vegas community and all of those affected.” Read his full statement below.

Rep. Scalise recently just made his return back to the House of Representatives after finally recovering from a previous shooting, which targeted a practice session of the Republican Congressional baseball team. Prior to his epic return, he was listed in serious condition and has described his experience as a true miracle.

Please continue to pray for the victims and their families of the Las Vegas shooting during this difficult time. Please share your thoughts and prayers in our Facebook comments.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, please comfort those who have experienced a great loss today; wrap them in your never-ending love and peace. Please be with those who have been injured, bring them healing, and reveal Yourself to them. God, during this time, minimize the difference in politics and religion to become the focus, and simply bring America to your attention. We love you and praise you in advance. Amen.
