The upcoming midterm elections are drawing a lot of attention around the nation. Campaigns in many different states are facing tight races as the poll numbers come in just weeks from the November election.

In Tennessee, Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn is squaring off with her Democratic challenger, Phil Bredesen. The race has been highly publicized. Now, it is making headlines thanks to a country music star who decided to jump into the mix.

Taylor Swift broke tradition and decided to come out and endorse Blackburn's opponent. She posted a lengthy explanation on her social media account as to why she feels Blackburn doesn't represent her Tennessee values. The post went viral and many people followed Taylor's link to register to vote.

Now, Blackburn is shaking it off and firing back. She delivered an epic comeback when asked about Taylor's endorsement of her opponent. It's clear that Blackburn is not intimidated by the country star and is sticking to her conservative values.

“Of course I support women and I want violence to end against women,” Blackburn said. “I've been very active in abuse shelters and child advocacy centers. I've been advocating for women in equal pay since I was 19 years old and making certain that woman have the opportunity for maximum pay and have a good record on that. We're getting ready the Music Modernization Act that I helped steer through Congress. It's going to be signed on Thursday by the president. I've been very active in that and Taylor Swift will benefit by that." The wide-ranging bill would affect payments to songwriters, copyright performance rights and royalties, among other things," she said.

“Tennesseans are more interested in the fact that Marsha Blackburn is endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, by the Fraternal Order of Police, by the Police Benevolent Association and by the National Rifle Association, where I have an ‘A’ rating and their endorsement,” Blackburn concluded.

Taylor hasn't responded at this time. Other Republicans came to Blackburn's defense as well. Many disagreed with Taylor and some attacked her for not even having her facts straight.
