It has been reported that former "Project Runway" finalist Mychael Knight died on Tuesday morning in a Georgia hospital. Obvious Magazine was the first to break this story. He was only 39 years old.

Knight apparently died after recently checking into a hospital. TMZ was told that he was getting treatment for an intestinal issue when he passed away at around 7:30 am.

In the world of fashion, Knight was famous. He was very successful in his run on Season 3 of "Project Runway" and eventually launched his own line of clothing. He was also once a designer for Starbucks, and even created his very own fragrance brand, MajK. You can watch him in the video below.

Knight grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1996, he received his high school diploma from Washingtonville Senior High School in Washingtonville, New York. Later that year, Knight became a student at George Southern University. He earned his degree in Apparel Design and Merchandising in 2001.

After graduating from college, Knight broke into the fashion industry. First, he worked as an intern at Wilbourn Exclusives in 2001 and then became a Fashion Stylist in the music industry in 2002. He then went to even bigger places.

In 2005, Knight auditioned for the second season of Project Runway but did not make the final cut. He therefore wasn't featured in the show. But then, he auditioned again for the show's third season and made the cut. He then went on to win the show's Fan Favorite award and placed fourth in the entire competition. Knight also appeared on BET's RIP The Runway.

"I’m still in awe that I’ve created a post announcing his death," wrote a friend for Obvious Magazine. "Mychael Knight was my friend, my brother, and a voice of reason everyone wants in their corner in the entertainment industry. He was passionate, outspoken, direct, kind, and unapologetic."

He continued, "I met Mychael in Philly almost 10 years ago. We both were booked to speak on a fashion panel for Radio One. We instantly clicked and became friends. He was a true Southern Gentleman and had no problems telling you that he was from the South. No matter what situation or industry event we attended, he always remained himself. I admired that about him. He loved his family so much and others, it reflected. He was a big Momma’s Boy, his mother was one of his best friends."

The friend then went on to write about the time that Knight was a great help after he got a rare form of bone cancer.

"When I lost my leg due to a rare form of bone cancer, Mychael helped me get my confidence back. I once complained how designers aren’t making clothes for people like me. Mychael’s immediate response was, 'I got you! Give me a few days to sketch something for you.' I said okay cool. Later, I checked my email and there the sketches were. I cried. I saw the vision. That’s me, I said! What my friend did for me changed my attitude about how I looked and boosted my confidence beyond words."

According to Essence, Knight passed away surrounded by friends and family, but no details of his death have so far been released to the public. The family has also asked that their privacy remain respected during this time.

Please pray for Knight, as well as comfort for his family and friends.
