Some devastating news was just confirmed out of Toronto. A shooting took place during a celebration for the NBA champions, the Toronto Raptors.

According to ESPN, at least four people suffered from gunshot wounds on Monday during the celebration rally. There were around 1.5 million fans at the City Hall square and around the city during the celebration. There were tens of thousands of people in the area where the shooting took place.

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders confirmed the shooting. He said that four people suffered gunshot wounds. Thankfully, none of the injuries were reported as being life-threatening. Others were injured as well as they ran away from the suspects.

As of Monday night, at least three people were arrested in connection to the shooting.

Saunders said, “We do have people arrested with firearms, and that’s the start of the investigation.”

Many of the attendees at the event found out about the incident when the host of the rally interrupted a speech from one of the team’s owners.

Sportscaster Matt Devlin said, “I want to make sure everyone stays calm.  This is serious. Everyone stay calm…There is an emergency being dealt with.”

Even though the crowd was urged to remain calm, videos have shown that thousands of people began running away from the city center. Below are some of the videos of the stampede of people, captured on cell phones:

At the time of the announcement, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Toronto Mayor John Tory, and various Raptors players including Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard were all reportedly on stage.

Initial reports had confirmed that two people had been shot. However, later reports confirmed that there were two additional victims.

Thankfully, everyone who was injured is expected to make a full recovery.

Please be praying for a recovery for those who were injured. Additionally, pray for everyone in attendance at the rally- this was surely a traumatizing experience.
