Louisville rapper Jack Harlow23-year-old reacted to a video showing a young woman having an encounter with two police officers. The video shows a woman–who appears to be of black descent–standing outside near a line set aside for a venue. She shouts clearly in distress:

“…[y’all are acting like I’m] doing something bad…all I wanted to f*****g do was go to the f*****g–STOP! All I wanted to do was go to the Jack Harlow concert…no, y’all are acting like I’m doing something bad!”

One of the officers repeatedly pointed his index finger in the fan’s face and grabbed her by the neck.

Jack HarlowThe video was reposted and captioned:

“This video came to my attention a few hours ago. When I watched it I was disgusted by that cop and all I wanted to do was make something good happen for this girl immediately…I told the world to help me identify her so I could find a way to give her a hug and give her as many tickets to as many shows as she wants. But that’s not enough and its not a solution to a systemic issue that people who don’t look like me have to face.”

He continued:

“The next step is identifying this police officer and getting him unemployed as fast as we can. Assaulting a young woman and putting his hands on her neck is sickening.”

He also added:

“I look out in the crowd every night and see black women in my front row…screaming my lyrics, traveling to see me, supporting me, riding for me. I want this woman, and every black woman that supports me to know – I am so sorry.”

He concluded:

“I want you to be protected and I want this guy to lose his job so fucking fast. You are my love. Let’s find this officer.”

HarlowHe has been vocal in his support for Black Lives Matter. He returned to his hometown in 2020 to attend a protest. the murder of Breonna Taylor.

He has also shown himself to be socially aware, stating that he’ll never truly understand racism. He said XXL:

“I grew up surrounded by Black people and they would tell me about their experience, but being a White person, there’s no way I can truly feel it,”

He continued:

“I can know it’s there, but I can never truly know what it’s like and know how real it is. And I think that’s given me a certain responsibility because there’s a lot of White people out here that deny the reality of it. If anything, I try to listen more than speak.”

The “What’s Poppin’” rapper started honing his craft at 12-years-old. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 2018, his music career took off. His songs have seen a meteoric rise on Tik Tok since then. He was also featured on rap-TV last summer.
