Christians from both sides of the political spectrum are coming together in mourning for Rachel Held Evans, a memorable evangelist who died over the weekend. She was only 37 years old at the time of her death.

According to The Atlantic, she died of “massive brain swelling.” Prior to the complications with her brain, she was hospitalized for some type of infection. No other details regarding her death were immediately released.

Evans, who first rose to fame as a Christian blogger, released several books during her lifetime. Most recently, she debuted “Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again.” Her book “A Year of Biblical Womanhood: How a Liberated Woman Found Herself Sitting on Her Roof, Covering Her Head, and Calling Her Husband ‘Master’” was listed as a New York Time’s Best Seller.

In addition to writing, she was a strong voice on certain social issues including a supporter of the LGBT community. Her controversial views left her butting heads with more conservative Christian voices, but still, both Democrats and Republicans flooded Twitter with tributes and prayers.

Some prominent Christian names who wrote a tribute for Evans include Beth Moore, Matt Walsh, Allie Beth Stuckey, and Lecrae.

Evans leaves behind her husband and two children. Please join Faith Family America in praying for them as they cope with this difficult loss.

In breaking news, a well-known Christian humanitarian and author also passed away recently. He took his last breath praising God.
