“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, 36, has become blacklisted in the Hollywood scene after news broke that he fabricated his recent hospitalization. Smollett claimed that two Trump supporters brutally attacked him because he was gay and black. However, Smollett’s case took an unexpected turn when the Chicago Police Department charged him with filing a false police report.
The two Trump supporters were later identified as the Osundairo brothers — Smollett’s good friends. Now facing 16 felony accounts, Smollett is staying adamant about his innocence. On the other hand, the Osundairo brothers publicly expressed their regret regarding the hate crime hoax.
Even amidst all of the evidence that has come forward, one well-known American actress refuses to turn against Smollett. Dana Elaine Owens, also known as “Queen Latifah,” said in a recent interview that she needs more proof.
“I am not about to discuss Jussie Smollett. Until somebody can show me some proof otherwise, I’m going with him,” she began.
“The guy I’ve seen has always been someone who cares about people, who cares about others, and is very kind,” the former rapper added. “He’s always been cool and sweet. That’s just the guy I know. Until I can see some definitive proof, which I haven’t seen yet, I gotta go with him.”
Latifah was heavily criticized for her remarks. Twitter users pointed out that there is plenty of evidence stacked against him.
