Queen Elizabeth Speaks Out After Notre Dame Goes Up in Flames

The world was shocked and heartbroken to learn that Notre Dame Cathedral was on fire on Monday afternoon. The famous building in Paris has been around for hundreds of years and was home to some incredible parts of history.

Crew worked around the clock to put out the flames. While some parts of the cathedral were utterly destroyed, other parts remained intact.

Social media was filled with posts regarding the event. Many were in shock and most were heartbroken. Lots of people shared images from their personal trips to Notre Dame in the past.

"On Monday, a fire broke out at the world-renowned French landmark that saw one of its iconic spires collapse in flames and damaged roughly two-thirds of the structure’s roof. No deaths have been reported. As French citizens gathered to watch and pray for the cathedral's safety, the Queen released a statement extending her condolences to Macron," reported Fox.

Now, Queen Elizabeth is speaking out about the fire. She says she is deeply saddened at the loss.

“Prince Philip and I have been deeply saddened to see the images of the fire which has engulfed Notre-Dame Cathedral,” a statement issued from the palace on behalf of the Queen reads. “I extend my sincere admiration to the emergency services who have risked their lives to try to save this important national monument.”

“My thoughts and prayers are with those who worship at the Cathedral and all of France at this difficult time," she concluded.
