Psych-Os for all your life! More than 15 years after its premiere, fans can’t get enough of Psych Shawn Spencer, its unforgettable BFF (James Roday) and Burton “Gus” Guster (Dulé Hill).
The USA network dramedy follows Shawn, a fake psychic who is hired to consult on cases as a “psychic detective” for the Santa Barbara Police Department, and his best friend, Gus, who is actually a pharmaceutical sales rep and somehow gets roped into all of Shawn’s cases.
Throughout the series, which ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2014, the detective duo have to keep up Shawn’s psychic appearances while actually solving crimes. Luckily, the partners are clever, run fast from danger, and hilariously get out the trouble with the help witty code names, elaborate backstories, and other tricks.
The pseudo detectives are assisted in their investigations by the police, which consists a grumby detective named Carlton Lassiter.Timothy Omundson), Juliet O’Hara (Maggie Lawson), who is also Shawn’s love interest, and chief Karen Vick (Kirsten Nelson). Shawn’s dad, Henry Spencer (Corbin BernsenA retired cop (called ) also steps in to help him out of trouble and teach him life lessons.
The gang reunited to make a TV movie in 2017, called “The Gang.” The Movie PsycheShawn and Jules were finally married in the end. Two additional films were also made. Psych 2: Lassie Come HomeAnd Psych 3 – This Is Gus, premiering in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
“The Psych-os are the best,” Hill told TVFanaticIn November 2021, ahead of the third installment. “They’ve been on this journey with us since 2006. We’re now in 2021. And the love just keeps building and growing.”
Lawson echoed the sentiment, expressing her surprise at the show’s staying power. “When we talk about Psych, it’s not this thing of the past, like, we’re still in this adventure,” she said.
The native of Kentucky said that the third film was something she felt brought something new to the table. “PsychShe is definitely maturing. I definitely feel that more in this movie maybe than I ever have,” she said.
