American actress and ex-wife to legendary singer Elvis Presley, Priscilla Presley, suffered a tragic loss in her family recently. On Saturday, January 6th, Presley announced the passing of her stepfather, Paul Beaulieu.
According to Classic Country Music, Presley’s biological father passed away in a plane crash when she was only 6 months old. Paul was “the only father [Presley] ever knew” and they had a very close relationship.
Presley made the heartbreaking announcement via social media on Saturday. He reportedly died on Thursday, January 4th in his home with family by his side. Prior to being brought back home, he was in the hospital for four weeks.
She stated, "Yes, now, it is true. My father passed at 1:04 p.m. on Thurs. After 4 weeks in the hospital we brought him home where he wanted to be with his family. His thin and weak body was resting well during his short time home."
"We played his classic Opera CD’s and took turns attending to him throughout the day," she continued. "He was with our mom who was standing beside his bed holding his hand...when he took his last breath. We are so relieved that he was peaceful and content."
Presley also revealed his final four words before his death: “I’m a lucky man.”
