On Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd birthday last Saturday, the world’s attention was drawn to the royal family as they shared the spotlight before a captive audience. But on that day, one of the lesser-known royals slipped to a quiet, private area of Buckingham Palace to snap a picture of her dad on his historic day.
Princess Eugenie, 28, couldn’t help but grab her camera to capture her dad, Prince Andrew, during the Trooping of the Colour ceremony. It was Prince Andrew’s first-time riding on horseback during the parade.
According to People, Andrew was recently appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards following his dad, Prince Philip’s retirement last year. It was a special day to celebrate.
Princess Eugenie’s snapped the photo of her dad in a private area of Buckingham Palace that is rarely seen by the public. The photo reveals light blue-painted walls, gorgeous portraits, marble busts, and sunlight streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows. Prince Andrew stands proudly on a royal red carpet that stretches the length of the hallway.
Princess Eugenie’s caption on her Instagram post read, “A wonderful and proud day celebrating Her Majesty’s birthday and @hrhthtedukeofyork for his first Trooping the Colour as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.”
Princess Eugenie doesn’t have a formal working role within the royal family, and that is perhaps why she has started her own Instagram page, rather than rely on the palace social media accounts like Meghan, Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
