The news was just reported on Thursday afternoon that Prince Philip, the 97-year-old Duke of Edinburgh, was involved in a car accident. He is now recovering from the scare with Queen Elizabeth II by his side, according to sources.
According to ET Online, Prince Philip was involved in a two-vehicle road traffic accident. Sadly, this is one of the first times in recent days that Prince Philip has even been out and about due to his increasing health issues.
According to reports, the Range Rover that Prince Philip was driving landed on its side following the collision. Thankfully, as of the time of this report, it appears that everyone involved in the accident has come out of it unharmed physically.
The Buckingham Palace broke the news.
They wrote, "The Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a road traffic accident with another vehicle this afternoon. The Duke was not injured. The accident took place close to the Sandringham Estate. Local police attended the scene."
According to CNN royal correspondent Max Foster, Prince Philip was the one driving his own vehicle.
Foster wrote, "97-year-old Prince Philip was driving, it was a Range Rover and on a public road. A doctor saw him at Sandringham after the accident and gave him the all-clear. The Queen is with him."
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip got married on November 20, 1947. Queen E is the longest-reigning monarch in history and the couple is the longest-standing couple in royal history.
Over the past few years, Prince Philip has been experiencing extreme health issues. While Queen Elizabeth II is still in good health, the same cannot be said for the Duke of Edinburgh.
Sadly, over the last year, Prince Philip has had to miss several important royal occasions due to his deteriorating health.
