Charles was subject to intense scrutiny by his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s heir apparent when he met Camilla (née Shand) in 1970. They were together before the prince joined the Royal Navy. She was engaged to him when he returned home. Andrew Parker Bowles.
Camilla married Parker Bowles in 1973 and they had two children together: son Tom1974, mother and daughter Laura1978
Charles and Camilla continued to move on, and in 1981, they tied the knot with Princess Diana. Their sons Prince WilliamAnd Prince Harry, respectively, arrived in 1982 & 1984.
Charles and Camilla began to see each other after they were married to Diana and Parker Bowles. They made their relationship public after their divorces, but it would be many years before their romance was approved by the royal family.
“It was horrid. It was a deeply unpleasant time and I wouldn’t want to put my worst enemy through it,” Camilla told the Daily MailMay 2017, “I couldn’t have survived it without my family.”
They were married in 2005 and she took on the role of a working member to the royal family.
Charles and Camilla are rarely seen giggling over each other in public, but they have their moments. “You can imagine it is a real, real challenge,” he told CNN in 2015 of her work as a royal. “But she’s, I think, been brilliant in the way she’s tackled these things.”
Despite the pressures associated with their positions within the institution the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess Of Cornwall know how to keep things light. “It’s always marvelous to have somebody who, you know, you feel understands and wants to encourage,” he explained. “Although she certainly pokes fun if I get too serious about things. And all that helps.”
Charles is the first in line for the British throne. This means that Camilla and him carry a lot of weight. Although they have had more then a decade to contemplate what Charles will do when he ascends, her son Tom claimed that the royals have yet settle on a title to Camilla.
“I honestly don’t know if Mum will be called queen,” he told The Times. “That hasn’t been decided. There are a lot of interesting Sky documentaries about that I’m sure, but I honestly don’t know if that’s true.”
