Press Secretary Sanders' Tweet Has Some Hysterically Laughing, Others Creeped Out

On Sunday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a tweet that has her social media followers confused about how to react. It had some hysterically laughing, while others were completely freaked out.

The tweet had to do with Sanders' purchase of Amazon's Echo device. It is a hands-free speaker that connects to the user's Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, and iHeartRadio accounts. The device works completely through voice command.

The Echo device responds to the name "Alexa." It will accept voice commands from all the way across a room and also has the capability to control lights, fans, TVs, sprinklers, locks, and several other features.

Amazon prides itself on constant evolution of their products. They said that the Echo Dot is "always getting smarter and adding new features."

Now, users are wondering if "Alexa" is getting a little bit too smart. Sanders' Sunday afternoon tweet may confirm that the device might be crossing the line between convenient and creepy.

She said, "Alexa, we have a problem if my 2-year-old can order a Batman toy by yelling 'Batman!' over and over again into the Echo."

Along with the tweet, Sanders added a screenshot of a confirmed shipping order that was sent to her. The order was of an $80 batman toy.

While it is comical imagining Sanders' 2-year-old screaming "Batman" and then automatically having a toy sent to the shipping address, many people believe that "Alexa" should not have this feature.

Many of Sanders' followers thought that the Tweet was funny, though others used it to criticize her. Some said that she should not be using her official Twitter account to share stories like those. Others said that it was not wise to share the fact that she has a voice recording device within her home.
