On Monday, Taylor Swift spoke out about her political opinions for the first time. The pop singer revealed that she's a Democrat, disappointing many of her fans.

In the lengthy Instagram post, Swift encouraged her followers to vote for Democrat Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn in the Tennessee midterms.

She also encouraged people to vote in the 2019 midterms according to their values. She also encouraged people to educate themselves on the candidates running in their states.

"Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway."

She continued, "So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to and you can find all the info. Happy Voting!"

Later in the day, President Trump was asked for his reaction to Swift endorsing Democrats. He had the best comeback.

He first addressed Swift's objections to GOP Congressman Marsha Blackburn. He made it clear that Blackburn is doing a very good job." He added that she's a “tremendous woman.”

He added, that Swift “doesn’t know anything about her."

But he saved the best response for last. He quipped, “I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now, OK?”

In 2016, first lady Melania Trump posted a video of President Trump and their son Barron listening to Taylor Swift's song Blank Space while driving in the car. It's not likely that many more moments like that will be happening since Swift has come out against Republicans.
