Over the last few weeks, the nation has experienced even more division regarding abortion laws. Recently, New York passed legislation approving late-term abortions. Now, several other states have or are looking to pass a similar law.

Following New York's controversial decision, pro-choicers rejoiced while pro-lifers mourned. The nation's top conservative leaders have now spoken out about the sad laws.

During his State of the Union address, President Trump openly talked about late-term abortion and how he adamantly opposes it.

President Trump said, "There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days. Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments from birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world."

Now, President Trump has spoken out again. On Thursday, February 7,  President Trump made a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. During it, he added on to what he said during the State of the Union address. He talked about the value of human life and how we must "build a culture" that cherishes the sacredness of human life.

He said, "We must build a culture that cherishes dignity and sanctity of innocent human life. All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God. Every life is sacred, and every soul is a precious gift from heaven."

He continued, "As the Lord says in Jeremiah, 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you- before you were born, I set you apart.'"

Finally, he asked that Americans join together to "choose greatness."

He said, "Today and every day let us pray for the future of our country, let us pray for courage to pursue justice, and wisdom to forge peace. For a future where every child is warm, safe, in a loving home."

He concluded, "[Let us] come together for people, the strength of families, the safety of citizens, fulfillment of deepest hopes and highest potential, and let us always give thanks for the miracle of life, creation, and the grace of God."

Beyond talking about the late-term abortion laws, President Trump also talked about the work of faith leaders around the nation. He ensured them that he is in support of them.

He said, "As president, I will always cherish, honor and protect the believers who uplift our communities and sustain our nation to ensure that people of faith can always contribute to our society."
