The President of the United States has a lot of responsibilities. He is busy running the country and even preparing for the next election which is sure to be a major event.
However, some people have wondered why President Trump's family isn't carrying on the tradition of owning a dog while in the White House. Many past presidents have owned pets while serving in the Oval Office.
Now, President Trump is opening up on the issue. He made his remarks at a recent rally in front of a packed out crowd that was there to see him.
"While discussing drug-sniffing dogs, Trump told the gathered crowd, 'I wouldn’t mind having one, honestly, but I don’t have any time. How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn?' he said, adding, 'I don’t feel good about becoming a pet owner, it feels a little phony, phony to me,'" reported People.
Lots of people thought the Trump's would get a dog since Melania and Barron are also in the White House. However, it doesn't seem like President Trump is even concerned about a pet, which is a good thing for the American people. He is focusing on Making America Great Again!
"The president, 72, claimed that he had been advised to get a dog for the White House — as most past presidents, including his immediate predecessor, have done — because 'it’s good politically,'" according to reports.
