President Trump Responds to Media Backlash Over His Controversial DACA Comments

President Donald Trump was under major heat by the mainstream media after his controversial comments from a private DACA meeting were released. During the meeting, Trump reportedly rejected a proposal to include the protection of DACA participants in the immigration plan.

According to CNN, a source from the private meeting leaked Trump’s response to the proposal, which was, "Why do we want all these people from 'sh--hole countries' coming here?"

Although CNN and other mainstream media sources took the opportunity to bash President Trump, several Republican names came to his defense. Some pointed out that Trump’s comment was not even confirmed to be true; others agreed with Trump.

Conservative political commentator Mark Dice said on Twitter, “Even if Trump did call certain countries in Africa 'sh--hole' countries (which they are), he did it in a private meeting, not during some public speech or a press conference. Big deal. You liberals are lunatics.”

Tomi Lahren, who now has her own Fox News segment “Final Thoughts,” also took a shot at those who were offended by Trump’s remark, “If they aren’t sh--hole countries, why don’t their citizens stay there? Let’s be honest. Call it like it is.” She continued, “All these leftist pearl clutchers are so upset President Trump referred to some ‘sh--hole’ countries while they’ve spent the last 2 years+ telling us the USA is a sh--hole country not worth standing for. Please. Get over yourselves.”

Trump responded to the media backlash early Friday morning, denying that he used that exact language. He wrote on social media, “The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!”

In earlier Tweets, Trump discussed his disappointment with the conclusion of the DACA meeting. According to Trump, the Democrats are not being supportive of the deal, and as a result, DACA has had a major setback.

Trump asserted, “I want a merit based system of immigration and people who will help take our country to the next level. I want safety and security for our people. I want to stop the massive inflow of drugs. I want to fund our military,” but he says the Democrats are “not interested in life and safety.”
