President Trump, Melania Respond to Horrific Valentine's Day School Shooting

On Wednesday afternoon, February 14th, a mass shooting took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, Florida. Police stated that up to 50 victims resulted from the shooting, but the exact number of casualties is unknown.

The male suspect, who is reportedly a former student at the school, is now in custody. According to NBC News, reports of the active shooter came around 2:30 PM and the situation was not apprehended until after 4:00 PM; his motive remains unclear.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump responded to the horrific shooting amid the chaos. Both our President and First Lady offered their prayers for the victims and their families.

President Trump stated, “My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.”

“Just spoke to Governor Rick Scott,” he continued. “We are working closely with law enforcement on the terrible Florida school shooting.”

Melania said, “My heart is heavy over the school shooting in Florida. Keeping all affected in my thoughts & prayers.”

Pastor Robert Jeffress, President Trump's faith advisor, also responded to the tragic shooting asking the public to join him in prayer.
