President Trump Releases Statement After Mass Shooting at Maryland Newspaper

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have been briefed on the shooting in Maryland. The shooting at an Annapolis newspaper reportedly injured 20 and killed 4 people. 

According to ABC News, President Trump has been briefed on the shooting, said White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters. He sent his thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by the shooting. 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all that are affected," Walters said.

Police cars have swarmed the scene. People were seen walking out of the building with their hands up.

Officers are working to search the building, said Lt. Ryan Frashure of the Anne Arundel Police.

"We're doing the best we can to minimize causalities," Frashure said

Governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan, also issued a statement. He tweeted, "Absolutely devastated to learn of this tragedy in Annapolis. Please, heed all warnings and stay away from the area. Praying for those at the scene and for our community."

According to a reporter at the newspaper, the Gazette, multiple people were shot. He tweeted about the events while he waited to be interviewed by police.
