It's no secret that the political arena can be a brutal place. The nation seems to be more divided than ever based on the political talks our country is currently sorting through.
However, one thing about politics has always been consistent in the past: people attempted to treat members of the opposite political party with personal respect. All that has changed in our current climate. It was just proven by a restaurant in Lexington, Virginia called the Red Hen.
Sarah Sanders, the White House Press Secretary, decided to go out to eat. The Red Hen restaurant owner told Sarah Sanders to leave the building because she worked for President Trump. Sanders took to social media to reveal the incident and it went viral online.
"Her actions say far more about her than about me," Sarah Sanders said. "I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so."
According to the owner of the eatery, Stephanie Wilkinson, "The restaurant has certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation. I said, 'I'd like to ask you to leave.'"
Now, many iconic political figures are coming to Sarah's defense, including her father, Franklin Graham, and President Trump.
