President Trump Pushes Back at 'One'Sided' Reporter, Oval Office Erupts with Laughter

On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump made a public announcement from the Oval Office regarding the signing of an anti-human trafficking bill. The bipartisan legislation, which prioritizes the prevention of international human trafficking (especially across the Southern border into the United States), comes one day after Trump’s prime-time address on border security.

During the public signing, Trump emphasized the importance of increased border security; this new bill is simply one step to protecting the U.S. from crime across the border. However, Democrats and Republicans have failed to reach a consensus on the border wall — President Trump’s ultimate solution to this major crisis.

The disagreements between the Left and the Right have resulted in a government shutdown lasting more than 18 days, as of January 9th. When reporter Jon Karl asked Trump about signing a bill to pay employees during the government shutdown, Trump pushed back.

“Do you think I should do that Jon? I watch your one-sided reporting,” Trump said as the oval office erupted with laughter. “Do you think I should do that? Seriously Jon, do you think I should just sign?”

Jon stumbled before replying, “I’m saying that if you sign that, these workers can start getting paid.”

“So, if you were in my position, you would do that?” Trump asked Karl.

“I’m not in your position. I’m asking if that’s something you would do,” Karl fired.

After Karl refused to offer a definite answer, Trump added, “Because if you would do that, you should never be in this position because you would never get anything done.” The room crackled with laughter again.
