A major auction house is making headlines after a recent item is prepared to hit the bidding floor. Julien’s Auction has just announced they have a very special item up for auction from the Trump family.
“The Los Angeles-based auction house is currently accepting bids on a serving of Donald and Melania Trump’s wedding cake, which was originally provided as a take-home souvenir for guests of their Jan. 2005 nuptials,” according to Fox News.
According to reports, the Trump’s displayed a five-foot-tall, 200-pound confection made with Grand Marnier buttercream frosting and decorated with 3,000 icing roses. The cake itself was actually not eaten by the guests.
The cake weighed so much and had so much wire inside of it so it could stand up, that the Trump’s chose to serve an alternate cake. The alternate cake was a chocolate truffle cake.
Julien’s estimates that the serving will sell for somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000, though the current bid already stands at $1,250, with just six bids entered so far. They had originally set the starting bid at just $250, reported Fox.
The cake is the latest “Trump item” to hit the market. A set of golf clubs owned by the President fetched nearly $30,000 at auction and a sketch of the Empire State Building, drawn by Trump, went for $16,000.
