On Tuesday, November 6, it was reported that at least six people have been arrested in connection with an attempted attack on French President Macron.

According to Reuters, a preliminary investigation pointed to six people that had created a plan to attack the president. Though the plan was “imprecise and loosely-formed,” it included “violent action.”

The arrests reportedly took place in three separate areas of France including Isere, near Lyon, Moselle, on the border of Germany, and Ille-et-Vilaine, in the northwest. All six members were reportedly members of the far-right.

As of Tuesday night local time, investigators had not revealed how the six people had been connected. However, the timing of the plans makes sense, as President Macron had talked about the threat of the far-right just days prior.

The six suspects were arrested on preliminary terrorist charges. No information has been given regarding their plans or what the process will be for their punishment.

The news of this attack comes days before President Macron will be hosting world leaders from around the world, including President Trump and UK Prime Minister Theresa May during Armistice commemorations.
